The New Library will be the cornerstone of East Moline's downtown renovation and revitalization effort, serving with the new TBK Bank Branch, Community Health and Runner's Park to provide an impetus for improvement in the rest of the downtown.  The new library building will increase to 22,250 square feet of space, double from the 9,552 square feet of the current library. The new building will include ​a new community room that will be available outside of library hours and will have seating up to 125 people. There will be community bathrooms outside the building, also available after hours for Special Events at Runner's Park. The new space allows for increased access to technology and study rooms.
