Ground broke on the site of the new East Moline Public Library in March 2021. Since the commencement of construction, the new East Moline Public Library has been through some changes. As the seasons changed, so did the building across the street from the current East Moline Library.


The East Moline Library closed to the public on January 15, 2022. The staff is working on moving and preparing the new library for occupancy. In the meantime, the library is still closed to the public as we move. Patrons are encouraged to return any library materials to surrounding Illinois libraries in the Quad Cities and to pick up any holds at any of those libraries as well.


Construction crews have been hard at work preparing the new building, located at 745 16th Ave, for the move.


Here are some exciting updates on the new East Moline Public Library:

As of January 15, 2022, the project is 89.2% complete.

In the past couple of months, the new East Moline Public Library building has seen a few new completions of the project. These include: replacing all of the exterior windows of the building and the installation and completion of steel work on the first floor and addition. The last couple of months have also brought exciting new photo updates of the inside of the new building, including the new adult nonfiction room!

As of September 15, 2021, 52% of the project is complete!

745 16th Ave, East Moline, IL 61244 is officially the address of the East Moline Public Library.


Summer construction continued on the new library with a few exciting new updates, including officially designating an address, beginning construction for replacing the roof, working on the construction of the new addition, and starting the construction on a new elevator shaft. The construction crew has been hard at work over the summer ensuring that the library will open on schedule for patrons starting early next year. Stay tuned for more updates!
